Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

What health data touches Dirtmo, why, and how to stop it. In short: it stays on your devices.

What this policy covers#

This policy covers consumer health data under Washington’s My Health My Data Act and Nevada’s consumer health data law. Dirtmo is run from British Columbia, Canada. Our full privacy policy is at dirtmo.com/privacy.

What we collect, why, and how we use it#

  • Heart rate and active energy, only if you use the Apple Watch app and allow Apple Health. The watch reads them to show your heart rate on the ride screen and saves them with the ride as a workout in Apple Health. Before a ride starts, the watch also checks the times of recent heart rate readings in Apple Health to tell whether another workout app is already recording, so the same ride is not recorded twice.
  • Workouts in Apple Health, only if you allow it. The iPhone app saves each ride to Apple Health as a workout with its route, and reads your recent workouts so a ride is not saved twice.
  • Precise location. Rides are recorded with GPS. We use location only to record and show your rides and for the features described in our privacy policy. We don’t use it to work out anything about your health or whether you visit a place for health care, and we don’t draw geofences around health care places.
  • What you choose to post. If you mention an injury or your health in a post, comment, photo or condition report, we store and show it like any other post, to the people you chose.

Heart rate, energy and workouts stay in Apple Health on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Dirtmo’s servers never receive them, we keep no copy, and we infer nothing about your health from them.
